WINTER CAMP 2010 Jan 4~7

DAY ONE: welcome & learning instructions

Warm-up activity.: Learn a song (Say Hello!)

Pick English names, make nametags

CLASSROOM RULES: No eating/drinking in class, No handphones, ENGLISH TALKING ONLY, Please try to do everything we are doing! Discuss the Secret Ornament ball : kids earn points all day, and the person @ the end of day with most points gets whatever is INSIDE the ball! (VERY SUCCESSFUL)

Name games

I AMHE ISSHE IS.WE ARE (actions), (ZIP-ZAP: using nametags & the mystery bag)

ABCs practice, Sing ABCs, ABC+ Sounds

ABC order activity. Get everyone moving. Students learn to line up according to the ABC order of their names. (make is harder by blindfolding them and attatching their hands to a rope they must keep one hand on at all times)

VOCAB. Intro: CATCH BOOK 1 UNIT 4: REVIEW

If you cant spell it, come to the front of the classroom & find the picture. Turn it over & spell it.

SNACK TIME

PHONICS SLAP game, listen to the sound of the letter, slap the letter before anyone else.

CRAFT ACTIVITY ABC poster look through magazines to find things that start with the letters youre given! (not very successful--I changed it by day 2)

END WITH ANOTHER NAME GAME (SHEET DROP)

DAY Three: How are you?

DOL warm up. Spelling simple words, learning about rhyming.

Rhyming circle spout.

Morning conversation: pre-reading: look at a book cover and tell me about what you see. What do you think this book is about?

VOCABULARY: Milk cheese, bread, eggs, watermelon, lemonade, salad

draw pics and spell the words together on the board.

Cake Walk. Kids dance around till music stops. I ask them, Do you like ____? Student standing on the card answers, I do! I like ___! and earns a point.

DAY FOUR: they are, they arent/ What are you wearing?

DOL Warm-Up: Spelling simple words. Writing simple in/on sentences.

CATCH p 102 draw a bar chart. Interview your classmates to find out who likes/doesnt like certain foods. Conversation: Do you like salad? Yes I do, I like salad. No I dont! I dont like salad!

Conversation ACTIVITY: Guessing. draw a picture..make it secret! What are in my hand? They are orange, they arent roundetc etc.

Short activity. Remembery. Look at some plastic foods under a cloth for 30 seconds, then go back and write as many as you can down on a paper. Conversations: Teacher: theyre orange
