6/2/09 Class Review

CATCH 1 --> Unit 3: Body Parts
Starting with a song, we have been learning morning, noon, afternoon, night. So the kids are learning the wonderful Skinnamarinkey-dink.
before/after conversa

Today's vocabulary:
eye(s)
ears(s)
mouth
cheek(s)
shoulder(s)
arm(s)
finger(s)
stomach
knee(s)
leg(s)
foot(feet)

go over new vocabulary. kids can say the word, then ask, "Is it a ____?" they can say, "Yes it is/No it isn't"

GAME: Family feud style. if you can, line the kids up in two lines IN CHAIRS.
2 kids come to the front of the class . ask them to point out a body part. first to ring bell, gets to go first. ifthey get it right, they have to find the flashcard to go with it (spelling side UP)

worksheet from activity book page 25. I photocopied it very LIGHTLY, so the trace words are GONE. then they have to write in the words, if they're misspelled, circle with marker and make them check flashcards, now PICTURE side UP!

Make sure classroom is in order before leaving!
line up and say goodbye!

this is a really smart group of kids, but some of them don't know basic stuff. The content is really basic, but it doesn't hurt the kids to practice again if they already learned it. I try to make lots of variety of activity for them so they're practicing in all sorts of ways, visual, vocal/auditory, physical. They're a lot of energy to handle. Remember to keep directions simple. it's easy for them to misunderstand my directions!
